and I have had just about all the bliss I can take.
Okay, so I am going to do a series on here, and it is going to be something that typically I do not speak on much…Politics. I decided to do this for several reasons:
- To make sure I correctly understand the things that are pissing me off.
- To educate those who are walking around in this haze who clearly do not understand what is going on.
- To have a place where I can vent.
DISCLAIMER: I will be stating my opinion at the beginning of a topic, but I am entering these rants with an open mind and the understanding that it is possible I misunderstand something, I am researching each topic and will be noting where I found my answers. I would also like to make it known that just because I disagree with someone does not mean I think they are stupid.
There are several areas I could rant about, but I want to start out with the Role of the Government. This will be a short post, mainly because each of the areas this can get into deserves to be its own rant
My Opinion:
Republicans like individual freedoms, well that is until it comes to the bedroom or a woman’s right to choose, but those are totally different rants. They believe in a small government.
Democrats like for government to be active; to attempt to make things better.
I have heard several people state that the reason they vote for a candidate is their stance on abortion. This floors me and scares the crap out of me all at the same time. I will address my views on abortion in a later post, but I can say it is not what I consider to be the biggest concern facing our country today.
What I Discovered:
Republicans “favor small government…” “…Their approach is Darwinian capitalism in that strong businesses should survive in a free market rather than the government influencing-through regulation-who wins or loses in business”**
Democrats “favor a more active role for government in society and believe that such involvement can improve the quality of people’s lives and help achieve the larger goals of opportunity and equality.”

This was not much of a post, I know, but I’m getting the ball rolling. I have now established that what I see is the Republican party only wants the government involved as long as it can benefit them, otherwise, they do not want the government around.
*I want to point out that I learned something that made me laugh. The Republican party was founded in 1854 by anti-slavery expansion activists and modernizers…what happened there? Not every Republican is a racist, I want to make that clear, but the handful (and I do mean handful – I have only met 2 or 3 flat out racists, at least to my knowledge) I have known and or seen, are Republican.
**I will mention this at a later time, but I just want to point out that they were very happy to get the government involved when they felt they should not have to do business with specific clientele.
